We have a new employee incentive program at The Resort where you get a free lunch at the new restaurant for every mention received from a guest.
I've gotten three in the last month.
That's more than anyone else has since the inception.
It's kinda ironic and sad that I gave up eating out for Lent and can't take advantage of tasty free meals until Easter.
I'm good at what I do
BEST. DAY. EVER.
I know I tend to complain about my job but in all honesty, it does have it perks.
Today I got $35 in tips.
And two ice-cream cakes from Cold Stone.
Don't be jealous. I'm thinking of you while I nom.
$10K?!... really?
So we have a Big Name Hockey Star Fantasy Camp staying at The Resort for the next week. After speaking with the sales manager a few minutes ago I found out that each of these 80+ gentlemen paid ten thousand dollars to simply skate around with said Big Name Hockey Star and tool around with the local NHL team.
Watching these guys is kind of like watching a little kid at Disneyland watching for Mickey to show up. Half of them have a wife with them and for the moment they look more like their mothers. Lots of arm tugging and jumping anxiously from foot to foot.
Very cute.
I promise not to slip you roofies
I need a date to the grand opening party of the Blue Martini Lounge in Phoenix on either Wednesday or Thursday of this week.
I do not want to go alone.
Cocktail attire is recommended. This means lots of leg and/or cleavage in addition to my general sexiness.
Come schmooze with me! If we're lucky, some sugar daddy will take us BOTH home!
I can't make it; the Terror Alert has reached "Orange"
When canceling reservations on the Resort's new OS, it's required that you enter a reason. And the brilliant creators of Opera have given us some handy "preloaded" choices that, I assume, they thought were common. Most make sense - "family emergency" or "weather" are bold-faced lies flimsy excuses things we hear on a daily basis.
...but "terrorism"? Seriously?
Am I an awful person for hoping that I get to take that cancellation when it inevitable comes in (because I know it will)?
Free muffins!
Our chef at the Resort is award-worthy. He brings me treats just because he can and they are always amazing. I've gotten truffles, cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate croissants...
I missed breakfast this morning so he brought me a plate of muffins, one chocolate-cream cheese, pumpkin and cranberry nut. I ate the chocolate one right away (dur) and now the others are sitting at my desk, taunting me with their deliciousness. This is going to be tough.
(...can't stop eating the pumpkin. half is gone now. maybe i'll just skip lunch...)
I'm twelve
There's a guest staying at the resort named (and I'm not joking here) "Mike Cox".
This has provided endless amusement for Work Drew and I and I don't anticipate it ending until Mike checks out... on June 30th.
"Have you been by the pool today? Mike Cox is looking a little red, someone should get some sunscreen for Mike Cox..."
"Man, Mike Cox is BIG!"
"Mike Cox needs a suite - he doesn't fit in a standard!"
(I'm truly sorry for all the people I'm sure to have offended but this really is how my mind works...)
stolen from Steve: Things I Think
Black coffee reminds me of airports.
I haven't listened to a song by Matt Nathanson that I haven't immediately fallen in love with. And yet I've never heard anything from him on the radio. I find this really odd.
Trust is the centerpoint of a passionate and real romance - not sex, not affection. You could never fully give your heart to someone unless you were able to have complete faith in what they say and do.
I really, really, really, really love Pandora. Like really.
I hate bad grammar. I'm not particularly fond of cats. But hot damn, I effing love cat macros.
"Peace (A Communion Blessing)" by Rich Mullins can still calm me down within the first one and a half seconds.
You know what, I probably am going to lose more weight, so stop asking me.
I hate the new NKOTB song and for some reason, that makes me really sad. I feel like I need to apologize to my 9 year old self.
No, two months isn't very long. What's your point?
The more "right" something feels, the more overboard you are likely to go. Balance becomes that much more important the closer things come to "perfect".
Someone keeps stealing my pens at work. This is the third time I've specifically ordered a dozen RSVP Fine Point black ball point pens and if they disappear again, I'm setting up cameras.

The PM shift at The Resort has a newer PBX Operator.
I have two pictures at my desk. There's one of my sister and I tacked up on the padded cubicle walls and one framed of Drew and I. Every morning after she works I come in and the picture of my sister and I has been moved down - as in, she removes the tacks and everything - so that it's hidden behind something, and she turns the picture of Drew and I around so she doesn't have to look at it.
Other people have to work here - I understand. But I'm the only full-time PBX and this, for the most part, is my workstation - if you're going to leave ALL the work that's in the inbox for ME to do, then it's MY desk. And I got sick of seeing nothing but cubicle walls.
If she doesn't want to see it, that's fine... but honestly, do you have to go to the trouble of rearranging my desk? That's just inconsiderate.
