BON JOVI IS STAYING AT THE RESORT.
...everyone, apparently, except JON. He's at the one next door.
EDIT on 11 Nov 08, 08:20a: This is actually true. BMW is holding an event at the adjacent property and Bon Jovi is performing. They aren't even staying the entire day, though.
This may or may not be true
There are very few things...
...that I wouldn't do to look as good now as Cindy Crawford does at age forty-effing-two.

Steal a kitten?
...yes.
Steal a kitten from a child?
Yes.
Steal a kitten from a child with a debilitating disorder?
YES.
Steal a kitten from a child with a debilitating disorder who only has 9 months left to live?
YEEEEEES.
Steal a kitten from a child with a debilitating disorder who only has 9 months left to live, then hold it for ransom?
YEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!
Steal a kitten from a child with a debilitating disorder who only has 9 months left to live, then hold it for ransom and send it back piece by piece?
OMG, YES YES YES!
Eat live cockroaches?
....Um, probably not, no.
Never call my nerdish tendencies into question
Alright, well, I spent a year on Harry Potter hiatus after Deathly Hallows overload but the new trailer for HBP has me geeking out just a little.
If you don't share my enthusiasm you can suck it skip this entry.
The little kid playing Tom looks exceptionally creepy; the flashes of present-day Voldemort during his scenes were a nice touch. Dumbledore and the wardrobe? Also cool, as was Tom's appropriately unimpressed reaction.
I had to go back and watch it a couple times to know exactly what each scene was. It's been almost a year since I've touched the books and over a year since I've cracked Half Blood Prince, so half of it was lost on me. Upon closer inspection (...and a couple of pauses so my memories could catch up), I was all a tingle to see Fenrir Greyback (I'm assuming) in the final showdown.
No Snape, which is surprising. Then again, he doesn't play a huge role in this book ("on screen," at least) until the end.
I suspect I'll cry even though I didn't during the book. In fact, I don't think I cried at all during the series until, oddly enough, Dobby died. For whatever reason, that saddened me more than anyone else; and frankly, I thought the house elves were annoying.
With the series complete, I don't have as much of a vested interest anymore. The mystery(ies) were what made it addicting and now we know how they tie up (thanks to the sickening, yawn-worthy epilogue). And as wonderful as the movies are, I still see the films as separate entities from the books. The "world," as it were, is dead-on with what I would picture but some of the changes and some of the actors just don't really fit what I think has been described. They're all great, for the most part. I just think of Dan Radcliffe as "Movie Harry" because he's not quite as awkward or angsty as "Book Harry" and Emma Watson is far too pretty to be "Book Hermione". Rupert Grint and Alan Rickman are the only two that I think have nailed their book counterparts spot-on.
And I dislike Ralph Fiennes for making my lady parts tingle over Voldemort.
Alright, I'm done...
(...for now....)
A poll
My hair is currently the longest it's been since senior year of high school. For the past eight years it's really never been below my chin, although I always attempted the feat - my impatience just got the better of me. Like, nineteen times.
I've been stingy with the money lately since I'm letting it grow and haven't gotten it trimmed since February. This annoys my mother (who gets hers done ever four weeks) so she's paying for me to get it cut and colored for my birthday the beginning of August.
So I have a decision to make. Let it keep growing or just chop it off?
Initially I just wanted the ability to pull it back in a ponytail without a bazillion and five bobby pins. Well, mission accomplished. But now I wouldn't mind something several inches past my shoulders where I can do waves and curls and crap that I haven't been able to accomplish as a pageboy.
The problem is now that I can put it in a ponytail, that's where it lives. I get lazy. Sure I could do waves and curls and crap, but will I? Not likely and certainly not on a regular, daily basis. I already get up at 5:30a; waves would require another hour and I'm just not that dedicated.
I'm not one of the nuts who gets emotionally attached to her hair. It grows back, after all. It may take awhile, but given enough time it'll get there. So a drastic change won't make me hyperventilate.
That being said, please help me decide. Consider this a democracy, keeping in mind I do get the right to veto any blatantly stupid opinions.
This is what I've kinda been aiming for the past nine months:
And this is what I'm thinking of, come August:
Maybe something in between? Another bob?
Vanilla Ice flat-top? Dreads? What?
And I will be played by Cate Blanchett
The soundtrack to the movie of my life will consist of nothing but Matt Nathanson songs.
Every time I hear his music I fall in love.
I don't have a clear picture of what he looks like (although I guess I could google him... [dur hur]) but I might have a crush on him anyway.

Black coffee reminds me of airports.
I haven't listened to a song by Matt Nathanson that I haven't immediately fallen in love with. And yet I've never heard anything from him on the radio. I find this really odd.
Trust is the centerpoint of a passionate and real romance - not sex, not affection. You could never fully give your heart to someone unless you were able to have complete faith in what they say and do.
I really, really, really, really love Pandora. Like really.
I hate bad grammar. I'm not particularly fond of cats. But hot damn, I effing love cat macros.
"Peace (A Communion Blessing)" by Rich Mullins can still calm me down within the first one and a half seconds.
You know what, I probably am going to lose more weight, so stop asking me.
I hate the new NKOTB song and for some reason, that makes me really sad. I feel like I need to apologize to my 9 year old self.
No, two months isn't very long. What's your point?
The more "right" something feels, the more overboard you are likely to go. Balance becomes that much more important the closer things come to "perfect".
Someone keeps stealing my pens at work. This is the third time I've specifically ordered a dozen RSVP Fine Point black ball point pens and if they disappear again, I'm setting up cameras.
Haven't done this for awhile
And that's a shame.
My blog hasn't officially been broken in until some Rich Mullins gushing has crept in somewhere. Time to fix that.
Listening to his playlist on my ipod lately (Shocker. I know.) and man, some lines are just gut-punchers no matter how many times I hear them. He may be the only songwriter I've ever encountered who can make me just... sick with emotion, over and over again.
So here are some of my favorite examples of his really simple but mind-blowing work...
"I've been broken down, I've been saved; learned to cry and I've learned how to pray. And I'm learning that even I can be changed." ("Growing Old")
"I'm reeling from these voices that keep screaming in my ears; all these words of shame and doubt, blame and regret. I can't see how You're leading me, unless You've led me here to where I'm lost enough to let myself be led. And so You've been here all along, I guess." ("Hard To Get")
"Surrender don't come natural to me. I'd rather fight You for something I don't really want than take what You give that I need." ("Hold Me Jesus")
"Joy and sorrow are this ocean and in their every ebb and flow, now the Lord a door has opened that all hell could never close. Here I'm tested and made worthy, tossed about but lifted up ..." ("The Love of God")
"Though we're strangers still I love you. I love you more than your mask. And I know you have to trust this to be true - and I know that's much to ask." ("Peace, A Communion Blessing")
"And his outstretched arms are still strong enough to reach behind these prison bars to set us free..." ("Peace, A Communion Blessing")
"We'd let the road wind tie our hair in knots; let the speed and the freedom untangle the lies. Maybe fear can vanish before love... Oh, God, don't let this love be denied..." ("The River")
"We are frail, we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Forged in the fires of human passion, choking on the fumes of selfish rage. And with these our hells and our heavens so few inches apart, we must be awfully small and not as strong as we think we are." ("We Are Not As Strong As We Think We Are")
There are days when I can't listen to his music for too long because it has too much of an effect on my heart. To be able to convey his feelings so well and without dressing them up in purple, complex metaphors is jarring. He did a radio show once where he jokes about not having the best voice and he's definitely correct but what he puts into his voice is just... breathtaking. You can hear every ounce of what he's feeling and that emotion truly bridges the gap from mediocrity.
I hope that when I die no one mourns me. I want to have lived his kind of life - where it was so obvious that I wanted so desperately to be with God that anything and everything else was a far and distant second place.
"And when I look back on the stars, well it'll be like a candlelight in Central Park... and it won't break my heart to say goodbye."
